Who owns the salon

A.

Anna Michelle Jackson and Cathleen Jefferson founded Modern Concepts Salon in 2007. Already having over a decade of experience “behind the chair” each, the two wanted to open their own salon offering exceptional haircuts, styles and most importantly making the guest experience the top priority.

The two are not only professional business owners and stylists, with six children among them, they are active community members donating an average of $10,000 a year to local schools and charities.

What is the atmosphere like

A.

When we designed our salon we had the guest experience in mind.

When a guest walks through our doors, they are greeted with a smile and offered a beverage. There is plenty of cozy seating to relax and catch up on some reading or use our complimentary WIFI. Our open foyer concept allows for wedding parties and large groups.

The Makeup Boutique is set next to the open glass arches for ease of transition from hair to makeup for bridal parties. The Style Stations are designed to give each guest the space and attention they deserve and a Private Room is available for wig fittings or by request. The Lather Lounge is set to the back of the salon offering a quiet space to enjoy our luxurious scalp massages. Each Skin Care Room boasts an extensive facial menu as well as threading and waxing services provided by a certified esthetician. We also offer a Cozy Corner for our natural nail and pedicure services.

What kind of policy do you have for deposits or fees

A.

Your appointments are very important to us and we work diligently to provide you with a service time that fits within your schedule. This time is reserved on your technician’s schedule especially for you. Keeping your appointment time is vitally important to us being able to provide you and our later guests with exceptional service.

If you are more than 10 minutes late, it is at the discretion of your technician to provide your service or to reschedule your appointment to a later date and time.

On the occasion that you know you cannot make your scheduled appointment, a 48-hour notice is appreciated.

We also understand that schedules need to be adjusted from time to time; however, MCS does have guidelines in place regarding Service Deposits as well as Cancellations, No Shows and Late Arrivals.

Service Deposit:
* Services over $250 and hair extension services may require a deposit of $150 to hold your appointment time.

* Special events may require a $50 deposit to hold your appointment time.

* Anytime a deposit is required your technician or the receptionist will speak to you about the specific deposit you may be asked to make.


Cancellations, No Shows and Late Arrivals:

If our system has flagged your record as being outside our guidelines, Modern Concepts Salon will notify you first with a verbal warning and an explanation of why your record has been flagged. Further infractions may result in being asked to have a credit card number on file that is subject to being charged as follows:

* Less than 48-hours notice will result in a charge equal to 50% of the reserved service amount.

* “NO SHOWS” will be charged 100% of the reserved service amount.

* Late Arrivals will forfeit standing appointments and are subject to being charged as a no show.

How your record is determined to be outside our guidelines: If you have given us less than a 48-hours notice when canceling appointments, you have not shown up for your appointments, you have arrived late for your appointments, or any combination of these violations 3 times within a 6 month period your record is automatically flagged and you will be notified by a customer service representative of the violations that have occurred.

These guidelines are in place to ensure a fair environment for both our guests and our commission based employees.

Can I make a same day appointment

A.

It is always best to make appointments well in advance. Many of our team members have commitments 3-4 weeks out. Same day appointments are sometimes available depending on the day and time. Feel free to call us to see if an appointment time is available.

What kind of certificates/training do the technicians hold

A.

All of our stylists and technicians hold the appropriate state licenses. We consider education to be a lifelong endeavor and as such we host educational events regularly for our team members to help them stay on the cutting edge of fashion and technique.

Before any team member “hits the floor” they must apprentice under a senior staff member to ensure they meet the standards of Modern Concepts Salon.
